Although we do not have a time frame for the introduction of the bill, I think that we should write formally to the Minister for Environment and Rural Development to ask for a view on the issue that the petition raises. It would also be useful to get from the minister a sense of what the time scale will be.

The Health and Community Care Committee will not take up the matter now, but I do not want the issue to disappear. If we can get confirmation that that committee would be interested in taking up the matter, it can be held over for the new committee that will be formed after the election.
