Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) were introduced in January 2009 under the requirements of the EU Energy Performance Building Directive (EPBD). iThe Energy Performance of Buildings (Scotland) Regulations 2008 transposed the original European Union's (EU) Energy Performance in Buildings Directive 2002 into Scottish legislation.They provide energy efficiency and environmental impact ratings for buildings based on standardized usage.
