I previously worked at Glasgow Caledonian University and I was a member of the court of the University of Glasgow. That makes us sound the best-informed committee in the Parliament on this topic.As members know, we started the inquiry by looking into the SHEFC proposals for teaching grant and research work.

That would help people to keep themselves right and provide us with a template for dealing with any instances of wrongdoing by members. Unless we set out the best way of handling approaches from lobbying companies, we will be on weak ground when dealing with members who, it is felt, have not acted correctly.
