We note that commissioners were appointed by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. Are you content that that is the best appointments process for commissioners?
Co-ordination is required—we should not simply co-ordinate adaptations in one place, allocations in another and services somewhere else. Would the situation be best addressed by local authorities or by a national, central agency?
I would not want to predetermine how best to do that. I hope that the process is as informative as possible and involves individual members in setting the priorities that are agreed in the budget later in the year.
