The policy memorandum acknowledges “there is no single definition of peatland”. The current muirburn code defines peat as exceeding 50cm but the Scottish Government committed to review this in response to the GMMG report.
We have certainly been frustrated by the slow progress in developing the code. Ideally, most people in the industry would have liked to see a code in place by now.
The focus of the code will be governance. What specific issues would you like guidance on in relation to the UK code before the Scottish code is finalised?
