My concern is that although a tremendous amount of expertise is available on European affairs in Scotland, I am not sure that the Executive does all that it can to draw all that together and to give it the platform that it deserves.

In the past few years, we have successfully pointed out to the Commission that its concerns on that matter were overstated, and I think that we managed last year to get a nephrops quota for the east coast of Scotland that more properly reflected the scientific view and also allowed fishermen to prosecute that fishery.
