The Scottish Government is determined to do everything it can, working with our national and local partners, to ensure that all young people get the best possible educational opportunities.
We have to be clear with the petitioner that that is what we are doing because we think that that is the best way to take forward the issue. We should not give the petitioner any false hope that we believe that this is a Scottish Government matter, because, given our discussion, I am fairly sure that we all seem to believe that it is a local authority matte...
Your assistants and advisers might offer advice, but it is you who must decide. Take time to consider what is best for your constituents and for the nation.
That is a lesson not only for the Scottish Government but for all public agencies across the UK. It is the right way and the best way in which to make policy. I, for one, am very pleased that Ms Freeman took the opportunity to ensure that our social security system had that in its very bedrock when she set it up.
