Supported by: Douglas Ross*, Bill Kidd*, Miles Briggs*, Liam McArthur*, Anas Sarwar*, George Adam*, Jackie Baillie*, Joan McAlpine*, Kenneth Gibson*, James Dornan*, Emma Harper*, Neil Findlay* *S5M-00530 Lewis Macdonald: Aberdeen District Scouts has Record Increase in Membership That the Parliament welcomes the increase in young people getting involved in — Aberdeen District Scouts, which now has a 15-year high membership of 1,755 boys and girls, representing a 10% increase over the last year; recognises that the district has also seen an increase in the number of adult volunteers over the same period, from 259 to 309, and that, without these people giving up their time, the range of activities offered by Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts would not be possible; understands that, as part of Volunteers Week 2016, the organisation is holding a thank you event for all of its volunteers on 11 June; further understands that it is also celebrating other special events later in the year, including the Cubs ’ centenary and the 30th anniversary of the Beavers section, and thanks all of the volunteers, past and present, who have helped to make Aberdeen District Scouts a positive and enjoyable experience for so many young people.
