Monday 9 April 2018 20 Today's Business Future Business Motions & Questions Legislation Other Gnothaichean an-diugh Gnothaichean ri teachd Gluasadan agus Ceistean Reachdas Eile Motions | Gluasadan Supported by: Monica Lennon*, Tom Mason*, Stuart McMillan*, Stewart Stevenson*, Neil Findlay*, Ruth Maguire*, Clare Haughey* *S5M-11477 Lewis Macdonald: Active Schools Increases Participation in Sports in Aberdeen That the Parliament welcomes a recent report by Sport Aberdeen, which suggests — that the number of Aberdeen school pupils taking part in extracurricular sport has increased over the last five years; understands that this is thanks to the work of the Active Schools programme, which is delivered by Sport Aberdeen and sportscotland; recognises that the number of participations in extracurricular sport has doubled in the five years between 2012 and 2017, and that the number of individual participants has increased by 63% over the same period; notes also the increase in volunteers supporting the work of Active Schools; believes that this ensures that children and young people across the city have access to sporting activities such as football, basketball and netball; commends all involved in the delivery of the Active Schools programme, and looks forward to the scheme enjoying even greater success.
