This petition is primarily targeting the majority so that healthy children are protected and can grow up to make their own decisions, but also it focuses on trying to get "medical" circumcision to follow current medical standards.
Councillors at SBC, who should have a grip on this, can’t or won’t get involved. One councillor wrote to me to state he wouldn’t back using Individual Notices as he thought a small child may go to read it, and the stone would fall onto him.
They have also met with school staff to help get their message across. The teachers have been welcoming, positive and supportive of the work that young women are doing and the Committee heard that there is good visibility in their schools and communities.
