Members' Business motions that have achieved cross party support *S5M-09754 Linda Fabiani: Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal 2018 That the Parliament — welcomes Marie Curie s Great Daffodil Appeal, which is now in its 32nd year and runs throughout ’ March 2018; understands that Marie Curie provides physical, emotional and spiritual care and support to nearly 8,400 patients and their families every year in their own homes in 31 local authorities across Scotland and in Marie Curie hospices in Edinburgh and Glasgow; further understands that Marie Curie s volunteer helper services provide emotional support, ’ companionship and information about relevant local services to people, carers and families, and its Information and support services are available for everyone affected by a terminal illness; recognises the dedication, hard work and contribution of volunteers across Scotland, such as the East Kilbride Fundraising Group, to raise funds and awareness during the Great Daffodil Appeal every year to support Marie Curie s vital services; acknowledges that Marie Curie is currently ’ working toward its vision of a better life for people and their families living with a terminal illness and that everyone matters, including patients, families and carers, health and social care professionals, politicians, public bodies and public perception, in making palliative care a reality in Scotland; notes that Marie Curie is working to embed the "realistic medicine approach" in the care ’ of those who are terminally ill, through improving people s understanding of palliative care, their ’ choices and preferences, death and dying, and notes calls to encourage as many people as possible to support the campaign in 2018.
