In the previous debate on MS, which Tricia Marwick secured and which took place at the time of the lobby, Malcolm Chisholm, who is now the Minister for Health and Community Care, said:"I had not planned to speak in today's debate, but I was moved to do so because of the lobby, which is the most effective that I have seen in my eight years as an MP and now MSP."—Official Report, 5 October 2000; Vol 8, c 1067.Malcolm Chisholm recognised—as other members have recognised through the more recent lobby—the absolute determination of people who live with MS to campaign for others with MS for a higher level of services that are better co-ordinated and a reduction in the barriers to accessing those services.Regrettably, those barriers still exist and constituents who live with MS in the Borders and Midlothian still have problems.
