The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors expressed strong opposition to any time limit, noting that a survey is a “snapshot” of the property at the time of the inspection.
It is an interesting idea to block off part of the sea bed for 10 years and to ensure that mobile gear does not go down there. My only fear—I expressed it at the time—was that we were subjected to only one side of the argument.
We seem to have leaped on a bit. Concerns were expressed about the committee taking on the petition given our workload and the other things that we have to consider.
I welcome Christine Grahame to her new role as convener and wish her all the best in that role. I also express the hope that, over the months and years to come, I can work constructively with the committee on a variety of issues that will crop up over that period.
