I am pleased that representatives of two local authorities have come along to express their views. Members may wish to note that we asked the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities to set out a generic local government position on the petition.

It might be more helpful if, rather than leaving the make-up of selection panels to the Presiding Officer's discretion, we were to make a standing body—such as the conveners liaison group—responsible for making appointments on a regular basis.
I will attend an SPS board meeting tomorrow, to which local authority conveners have been invited. The SPS has created liaison officer posts for all the CJAs.
We have run a number of health days, when children were given cookery classes. After parents expressed interest, the school ran the same lesson in the evenings for them.

To ask the Scottish Executive whether the Scottish Prison Service is or has been locating possible sites for building private prisons and, if so, where these sites are.
