*S6M-03404 Emma Harper: 50th Anniversary of the Visit to Langholm by Astronaut Neil Armstrong—That the Parliament congratulates the Buccleuch Centre, in Langholm, Dumfries and Galloway, on organising an After’moon’ Tea, taking place on the 11 March 2022, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the visit to Langholm and the Buccleuch Hall in 1972 by astronaut, Neil Armstrong; understands that Neil Armstrong was the first human to walk on the moon and was granted the Freedom of Langholm, making him the first Freeman of the town; further understands that journalist and Lord Lieutenant of Dumfries, Fiona Armstrong, along with local resident, Grace Brown BEM, will relive the day with film clips, photos and music from Jamie Telford, food and other festivities; welcomes that the event will also include the unveiling of a commemorative plaque outside the Buccleuch Centre by space historian, Dr Ken MacTaggart, to permanently mark the half-century that has passed since Mr Armstrong’s visit to the Borders, the home of his Scottish ancestors, and wishes all involved a successful day.
