Final provisions 30 15 Application of public authorities legislation Schedule 3 modifies other enactments so that their provisions apply to the office of Commissioner. 16 Interpretation In this Act— 35 “action” includes failure to act and related expressions are to be construed accordingly, 7 Commissioner for Older People (Scotland) Bill “best practice” means such practice in relation to the rights and interests of older people as appears to the Commissioner to be desirable, “Commissioner” means the Commissioner for Older People in Scotland, “older people” means people who are 60 years of age or over and related 5 expressions have corresponding meanings, “Parliamentary corporation” means the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body, “Scotland Act” means the Scotland Act 1998 (c. 46), “Scottish Law Officer” means the Lord Advocate or the Solicitor General for Scotland, 10 “service provider” means any person providing services for an older person other 1 than a person providing services for them because of their existing family relationship, community or neighbourhood links, or friendship with them and who does not principally provide those services for remuneration or as part of their employment. 15 17 Commencement (1) This section, sections 1, 16 and 18 and schedule 1 come into force on the day after Royal Assent.
