I look forward to continued engagement with the Committee as we take forward the future Buildings (Heating and Energy Performance) and Heat Networks (Scotland) Bill in the new parliament, 1 as well as implementing other elements of the Heat Networks (Scotland) Act 2021 in due course.
The committee discussed the issue of escapes, but are probably unaware that the leading Norwegian researcher into escapes published a new paper at the end of 2025 in which he suggested that the impacts of escapes on wild fish populations have been highly overstated.
As of today, 3 March 2026, it is anticipated that the funding allocation for the operational requirements of the new Scottish Food Commission will form part of this budget allocation.
