*S5M-01906 Ben Macpherson: LeithLate Attracts Thousands to Leith That the Parliament — congratulates the LeithLate festival on its success over the last five years, which was highlighted in the report, LeithLate16, which was published on 15 September 2016 ; understands that the 2016 event was the most successful festival to date, comprising of four days of events from 23 to 26 June with over 3,000 people attending a record number of curated events; appreciates that 2016 also saw it launch its first-ever artist commission, with a LeithLate currency designed by Rabiya Choudhry, which included a corresponding exhibition and workshop in conjunction with the youth arts project, #artcore; welcomes the news that this could be the first of a series of LeithLate Limited commissions; notes the feedback from 2016 suggesting that 51% of the audience live in Leith and that 30% visit Leith sometimes, rarely or never; welcomes that the festival therefore attracted almost 1,000 people to the area, and wishes everyone involved with LeithLate all the best for 2017 and beyond.
