The sponsoring department in the Scottish Government has responsibility for funding and monitoring the budget of the inquiry, in liaison with the inquiry itself.
Core participants are people with a direct interest in a statutory inquiry, who have special rights in the inquiry process.
The SPS is responsible for managing the contract on behalf of the Justice Multi Agency Liaison Group (MALG). This group includes representation from SPS, the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS), the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) and Police Scotland.1Audit Scotland. The recommendations were that there is a need for:
Courses for parents on transitions;
More specialist nurses, for example, transition nurses and acute liaison learning disability nurses;
Preparations to start early - at least 2 years;
Transition wards for young people;
Training for doctors and nurses about complex needs;
More respite;
Emotional support for...
Land managers, farmers and agents have been made aware of the pending extensions to the deadlines through revised guidance and the change is prominent on the Scottish Government Common Agricultural Policy website. There has also been liaison with representative farming bodies.
While the UK Government has agreed to a meeting in principle, and liaison between officials continues, no arrangements have been made and no proposals that could be discussed among Ministers have been offered.

Last year, the Scottish Government commissioned Dr Nadine Cossette, a liaison psychiatrist, to examine the mental health needs of people hospitalised due to COVID-19.
