The Scottish Executive is in regular contact with the UK Government on a wide range of issues,including the proposed new gambling legislation. Scottish ministers will have a wider range of controls under the new systemincluding power to set licence fees and licence conditions.
This means, among other things, that new or improved services associated with new infrastructure can be introduced into the franchise throughout its life.

The projected cost of the removal of asbestos from New St Andrew's House was a factor in the decision to give up three central Edinburgh buildings (New St Andrew's House, Brandon Street/Perth Street and Jeffrey Street) with staff moving to a new building at Victoria Quay.
To ask the Scottish Executive to detail, by constituency, the number of young people on the New Deal, and the number at each stage within the New Deal programme, namely (a) Gateway, (b) a New Deal option, (c) Follow-Through and (d) employment.
Since we published our equality strategy two years ago, we have developed various aspects of that work and a new equality strategy will be published imminently.
I stress the point that I made earlier—we have record levels of investment and new money in the trunk roads programme, but there are also new demands and commitments.
