Tinker's Heart Becomes a Scheduled Monument

  • Submitted by: John Finnie, Highlands and Islands, Independent.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 03 August 2015
  • Motion reference: S4M-13872

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that the Tinker’s Heart of Argyll has been made a scheduled monument; notes the successful campaign and petition to have the Parliament and Historic Scotland review the status of the Heart; congratulates Jess Smith on what it sees as her tireless efforts to preserve the Heart for Gypsy/Travellers and the whole of Scotland; believes that is important that the role of Gypsy/Travellers in Scotland’s history is recognised, and hopes that the recognition of the Heart will lead to more positive engagement with them by Scotland’s public services.
