That the Parliament commends Perth business, Merlin ERD Ltd, for donating £1,000 to Perth High School to help fund a trip for physics students to visit the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva at the end of May 2023; understands that the local firm, which provides drilling consultancy and engineering services, values the importance of investing in young people and promoting innovation and technology, having previously sponsored a Perth High School trip to NASA; notes that CERN is where the Large Hadron Collider is based, which is the world’s largest and most powerful particle collider, and where, it understands, the world’s most eminent scientists research the origins of the universe, and recognises the utility of this unique learning experience for pupils and believes that it will significantly aid them in future studies.
