That the Parliament welcomes the new report, Innovation Critical - Scotland’s Net Zero Mission and Climate Tech Opportunity, which outlines how Scotland can become a leading innovator and exporter of technological solutions to climate change issues; understands that the report has been produced following collaboration from the partners, BT, Royal Society of Edinburgh, ScotlandIS and SCDI; recognises that Scotland is well placed to harness new and emerging digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence and data analytics, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the impacts of climate change; considers that climate tech represents a growing global market and presents a major strategic opportunity for Scotland’s economy; understands that the report identifies seven challenges for climate tech in Scotland, and lists 10 recommendations to accelerate innovation and enhance Scotland’s growing climate tech ecosystem; congratulates the partner organisations on this exciting contribution to Scotland’s net zero journey, and hopes that the report encourages further action to address climate challenges through the power of digital technology.
