One Year to go - Deposit Return Scheme

  • Submitted by: Maurice Golden, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 30 June 2021
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S6M-00564

That the Parliament notes that 1 July 2021 marks one year to go until Scotland’s deposit return system for drinks cans and bottles launches; believes that this system will bring significant benefits in terms of litter reduction, boosting recycling, reducing climate emissions and promoting the circular economy; welcomes the efforts by large and small businesses to make sure they are ready for the deadline set under the regulations, and believes that the constructive cross-party working around the development of this system can be a model for future circular economy measures.
