That the Parliament congratulates The Ethical Dairy, which is based at Rainton Farm in Dumfries and Galloway, on receiving a Higher Welfare Award for Dairy Cows and Calves at the Compassion in World Farming's 2026 Farm Animal Welfare Awards in Brussels; notes that The Ethical Dairy was one of just six UK winners among 44 recipients worldwide; understands that the award coincides with the 10th anniversary of the farm introducing its pioneering cow-with-calf dairy system, which allows calves to remain with their mothers for several months rather than being separated after birth; recognises that Rainton Farm was among the first commercial-scale dairy farms in Europe to adopt this approach across its entire herd; commends the team at The Ethical Dairy for their commitment to animal welfare, organic farming and environmentally sustainable food production; welcomes their work in sharing knowledge and encouraging other dairy farmers to explore higher-welfare practices; believes that the farm's success demonstrates the potential for innovative and compassionate approaches to dairy farming, and wishes everyone at The Ethical Dairy continued success.
