That the Parliament marks Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, which is held annually in November, and World Pancreatic Cancer Day on 19 November 2026; acknowledges previous Members’ debates on pancreatic cancer, which have highlighted a need for the condition to be recognised as an urgent health priority; commends the work of charitable organisations over the past decade to raise awareness, improve outcomes and support those affected by what it understands to be Scotland’s deadliest common cancer; recognises progress in recent years, including promising research into earlier diagnosis and greater recognition of cancers with lower survival rates; notes the view that further work is needed to secure sustainable funding for nationally consistent, best-practice pathways for pancreatic cancer diagnosis, treatment and care, ensuring long-term improvements for patients across Scotland; acknowledges the potential of transformative innovations, including breath tests and personalised medicine, and the importance of policy leadership in supporting their integration into standard clinical practice; notes the view that all patients in Scotland should benefit from the provisions of the UK legislation, the Rare Cancers Act 2026, including improved access to clinical trials and new treatments; acknowledges calls for Scotland to appoint a national lead to drive progress in this area and work alongside UK counterparts; believes that the past decade has brought greater public awareness and political attention to pancreatic cancer; notes the view that the next decade must deliver tangible improvements in diagnosis, treatment and care to increase survival rates and save lives; pays tribute to all lived experience advocates who courageously share their experiences to shape policy, inform research and drive progress, and wishes everyone involved with Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month every success in raising awareness of this devastating disease.
