  • Motion reference: S7M-01846

That the Parliament congratulates South Lanarkshire Council on the progress of its Home+ programme, which, it understands, is on track to deliver more than 1,000 additional homes across the area by March 2027; notes that this will help to increase the supply of affordable housing across South Lanarkshire; welcomes ongoing developments in communities, including Cambuslang, Jackton, Hamilton, Larkhall, Strathaven and East Kilbride, and the use of former brownfield land to help meet housing need; recognises the council’s commitment to delivering high-quality, energy-efficient homes, including properties designed to meet the needs of older people and those with mobility requirements; acknowledges the contribution of housing officers, planners, construction workers and development partners involved in delivering these homes; notes what it sees as the importance of increasing housing supply across all tenures, including council housing, social rented housing, affordable home ownership and private housing; believes that increasing the supply of new homes is essential to address Scotland’s housing emergency, reduce homelessness and ensure that everyone has access to a safe, secure and affordable home, and wishes all involved continued success as the programme moves towards its target of delivering more than 1,000 additional homes in the area.
