That the Parliament notes the Scottish Veterans Commissioner’s Progress Report 2026 and its relevance to veterans and their families across Scotland, including in the Mid Scotland and Fife region; recognises their service and contribution, and the work of public services, charities and volunteers in supporting the Armed Forces community; welcomes the progress identified in helping service leavers translate military skills and qualifications into civilian employment, and the updated housing guidance recognising the needs of veterans and their families; acknowledges that, according to the report, of the 96 recommendations made by the Commissioner’s office since 2014, all have been accepted by the Scottish Government and 50 have been fully implemented; notes the Commissioner’s assessment that progress has slowed; further notes her concerns about minimal progress on the Veterans Homelessness Prevention Pathway, participation by around 5% of GP practices in the GP Recognition Scheme, the time taken to develop the Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Pathway, and limited activity in response to her Veterans and the Law report; recognises what it sees as the importance of employment support for veterans and their spouses and partners, and notes the view that the findings merit parliamentary discussion of the barriers to delivery, responsibility for outstanding commitments and how progress is measured through improvements in veterans’ lives.
