That the Parliament recognises the historic and cultural importance of Cromarty Museum to the Black Isle; notes that the museum is housed in Cromarty Courthouse, a category A listed building constructed in the 1770s and a rare surviving example of a courthouse predating the reform of the Scottish legal system; further notes that the building opened as a museum in the early 1990s and that it holds the collections and archaeological finds that record the story of Cromarty; acknowledges that the building is at risk, with damp and water ingress threatening the care of the collection, and that its steps, steep staircase and narrow corridors restrict access for people with mobility difficulties; commends the ambition of the museum's small staff team, trustees and volunteers, who have completed an options appraisal and a feasibility study and secured permission to apply to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for a capital redevelopment that would make the building wind- and watertight and create level access, a lift, an accessible toilet and a flexible community space; understands that the museum hopes to reopen in 2031 to mark the courthouse's 250th anniversary, and wishes everyone involved every success in securing a sustainable and thriving future for Cromarty Museum.
