That the Parliament congratulates Mark Sommerville, who is from Uddingston, on being named the winner of the Fundraiser Award at the BBC Scotland Make a Difference Awards; recognises Mark’s extraordinary determination and commitment to supporting people affected by MND, following his own diagnosis; notes that he established the Mark Sommerville Foundation and has raised more than £120,000 for MND research and care; recognises his work advocating for faster access to clinical trials and greater support for people living with MND, including engaging with policymakers at both Scottish and UK level; acknowledges the contribution of the wider team behind the Foundation, and commends Mark and everyone involved with the Foundation for their inspiring commitment to improving the lives of people and families affected by MND and ensuring that their voices are heard.
