  • Submitted by: David Linden, Glasgow Baillieston and Shettleston, Scottish National Party
  • Date lodged: Monday, 14 September 2026
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S7M-01171

That the Parliament notes with concern the scale of the men's health crisis in Scotland; recognises that male life expectancy is worse in Scotland than any other part of the UK; understands that two in five Scottish men die prematurely and are 50% more likely to die prematurely than women; welcomes Movember’s new report on the state of men's health in Scotland, which sets out the scale of this challenge, including the significant annual cost of male ill health to the Scottish economy and public services; recognises the contribution of grassroots community programmes working to improve men’s health across Scotland; agrees that the current landscape of strategies and services must be coordinated to better address men's health need, and urgently calls on the Scottish Government to work with Movember and other stakeholders to develop a dedicated Men's Health Action Plan, encompassing clear funding commitments, accountability mechanisms and improved data collection, to close the gap in men's health outcomes.
