That the Parliament welcomes Chris Leslie’s exhibition, The Last Foundations, within Motherwell's Heritage Centre, which brings together photography, archive material and community stories to preserve Ravenscraig’s legacy; recognises that it has been 30 years since the demolition of Ravenscraig’s iconic cooling towers and gas holders; remembers Ravenscraig as a place of work, pride and community that shaped Motherwell, Wishaw and Lanarkshire; notes that the steelworks employed more than 13,000 people at its peak and was once the largest hot strip steel mill in Western Europe; pays tribute to generations of steelworkers and their families, and believes that the lessons of deindustrialisation must inform efforts to rebuild manufacturing, secure good jobs and deliver a fairer future for Scotland’s industrial communities.
