Five Station Challenge 2.0 Raises Funds in Memory of 9/11 Firefighters

That the Parliament commends more than 30 firefighters from Lanarkshire and Ayrshire who completed the 34.3 mile Five Station Challenge 2.0 on 1 September 2026, walking from Kilmarnock Fire Station to Motherwell Community Fire Station via Clarkston, East Kilbride and Hamilton; recognises that the challenge was held to honour the 343 firefighters who tragically lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks in New York City 25 years ago in 2001; acknowledges the physical commitment that is required to complete the challenge and the significance of the event as a tribute to those who dedicated their lives to helping others; welcomes that the crews have raised more than £6,000 through donations and Gift Aid, exceeding their original £1,500 fundraising target by more than 400%; commends the firefighters for their dedication and fundraising efforts in support of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Family Support Trust, Fire Fighters Charity and Cash for Kids, and encourages members of the public to continue supporting this important cause.
