Recognising the Work of the Scottish SPCA in Glasgow

That the Parliament commends the work of field officers working for the Scottish SPCA, a registered charity operating in Glasgow and throughout Scotland; understands that its officers can no longer euthanise animals using the drug pentobarbital and that consequently officers now use manual handling for end-of-life care; recognises that while this latter method is also instant and humane for the animal, it does have mental health consequences for officers who may carry out this task up to ten times a day; notes and appreciates the unique demands that this aspect of the role places on officers, and commends them for their dedication in this area and for their diligence in their duties more generally.
