That the Parliament notes the introduction of the Scottish Government’s Welcome to School Bag, which will provide around 47,000 children starting P1 in 2027 with a school backpack containing essential stationery, a water bottle and resources to support reading, writing and maths at home; recognises that the initiative was a 2026 Scottish National Party manifesto commitment made to families and is now being delivered; notes that children, families and teachers have helped shape the design and contents, including children at Orbiston Community Hub in Uddingston and Bellshill; believes that practical support at the start of school can help reduce the financial pressure on families and ensure that every child can begin their school journey feeling excited, supported and ready to learn, and further notes the wider support available to families through the Baby Box, Best Start Grant School Age Payment, School Clothing Grant, free school meals and breakfast clubs.
