That the Parliament recognises the second anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 coming into force on 16 July 2024; celebrates that incorporation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) aims to put children’s rights at the heart of law-making in Scotland; commends the decade-long campaigners, including the Children & Young People’s Commissioner Scotland, Together Scotland and all the children, young people and adults who stepped up to lead the charge in protecting the rights of children and young people, and further commends everyone involved in overcoming what it considers were complex legal challenges that resulted in the unanimous passing of this domestic law by the Parliament.
