Recognising the Launch of Because She Was Here by Catherine McAllister

That the Parliament congratulates Catherine McAllister, a registered nurse at University Hospital Wishaw, on the publication of her memoir, Because She Was Here, which will be launched on 1 August 2026; understands that the book tells the story of Catherine's daughter, Ellie, who died at the age of three, and reflects on grief, resilience, love and hope; commends Catherine for sharing her family's experience with honesty and compassion in the hope of supporting others affected by bereavement; recognises that the launch event will include a charity raffle in aid of the bereavement suite at University Hospital Wishaw, acknowledging the invaluable support that the service provides to families experiencing the loss of a baby or child; applauds Catherine's commitment, both as a bereaved mother and as a nurse, to giving back to a service that has supported so many families, and wishes her every success with the publication and the fundraising event.
