  • Motion reference: S7M-00460

That the Parliament recognises the significant fundraising undertaken by Grangemouth’s community stalwart Malcolm (Malky) Finlayson in aid of Strathcarron Hospice; understands that Malcolm has raised £32,600 by making wooden planters and Christmas trees, which now grace gardens across the Falkirk East and Linlithgow constituency; notes that the Rotary Club of Grangemouth recently presented Malcolm with its community service trophy in recognition of all his efforts; further notes that the Rotary Club of Grangemouth also made its own presentation to Strathcarron Hospice with a cheque for £22,472, a sum, which it understands, was raised at a charity dinner held in Grangemouth’s Leapark Hotel, with a total of £43,000 raised and split between Strathcarron, CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) and £1,000 donated to Argyll and Southern Highlanders veterans; acknowledges the donation of surplus wood to Malcolm Finlayson by local firms Sidey, MGM Timber and IBT, and wishes Malcolm and the Rotary Club of Grangemouth continued success in their future fundraising efforts.
