Wishaw Runner’s Charity Fundraising Challenge

That the Parliament recognises and commends James Paterson, from Wishaw, for undertaking an extraordinary fundraising challenge consisting of a 400-mile run from Larkhall to London, followed by participation in the London Marathon, in support of Children First, which is Scotland’s national children’s charity; notes that Mr Paterson, who is a long-standing supporter of Children First, has raised more than £30,000 over the past 15 years through endurance running events, including multiple marathons and a 24-hour virtual track run; further notes that his latest challenge has already raised over £8,100, with funds supporting the charity’s work to improve the lives and wellbeing of children across Scotland; acknowledges the support of his family and the wider Lanarkshire community in encouraging his efforts, and commends his dedication, perseverance and charitable commitment in using sport to make a positive difference to the lives of children.
