That the Parliament welcomes the award of funding from the Royal Society’s Places of Science scheme to the North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre in Motherwell, which is one of 27 small museums across the UK to receive support from the Royal Society; congratulates the Heritage Centre team on their successful project marking 30 years since the demolition of Ravenscraig Steelworks, exploring the site’s industrial, environmental and scientific legacy; notes that the project will engage local primary school pupils through museum and archive-based learning, helping them to understand how steel was produced and its impact on the local environment; further notes that pupils will take part in activities on the former steelworks site, recording and measuring biodiversity and observing how nature is regenerating the area, and recognises the importance of this initiative in connecting local heritage with STEM education, supporting community engagement and inspiring curiosity about science in everyday life.
