That the Parliament congratulates A Listening Ear (SCIO) on receiving a £289,516 grant from the National Lottery Community Fund; notes that this significant investment will support the continuation of its one-to-one befriending service in the community, its telephone befriending work, its No One Dies Alone service, its befriending activities in care homes and its Friendly Cup groups; recognises that these services will benefit around 250 people and involve approximately 146 volunteers over the next three years; acknowledges what it sees as the vital importance of compassionate and person-centred support for individuals living in remote and rural areas who have no access to a local hospice and may otherwise face isolation at some of the most challenging moments in their lives; commends the dedication of the volunteers and staff who deliver these life-affirming services, and wishes A Listening Ear every success as it continues its essential work supporting communities across Dumfries and Galloway.
