That the Parliament notes the retirement of Brendan Rooney, who is the executive director of Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust based in Rutherglen; further notes that through Brendan’s leadership, Healthy n Happy has developed and delivered a wide portfolio of activities and events to support local people's connections and relationships with their family, friends and wider communities, encouraged people to become more active, get outdoors and get involved in nature-based activities, provided opportunities to develop new skills and learning and provided opportunities to get involved with arts, cultural and community radio projects; understands that Brendan was instrumental in setting up Camglen Radio which, for over 10 years, has offered opportunities and training to those interested in broadcasting as well as spotlighting and promoting local organisations and up-and-coming artists; notes that Brendan was invited to the opening ceremony of the current parliamentary session to recognise his extraordinary contribution to local communities during the pandemic as the coordinator of the Camglen Covid Support Group, a network that helped local residents by dropping off shopping, posting mail, having a friendly phone call with them, providing urgent supplies and much more; understands that Brendan is both a champion for the local community and well-respected in the third sector where he has worked for many years, believes he will be greatly missed by all those who have worked with him at Healthy n Happy, and wishes him all the very best for the future.
