That the Parliament congratulates the Saudha Society of Poetry and Indian Music on the success of its Rhymes for River & Planting event, which was held at the Parliament on 18 December 2025; understands that Saudha is an organisation working acros sthe UK to create a new audience for classical Indian and south Asian music and is currently pursuing the creation of a Western Gharana, or school, of Indian classical music; commends Saudha for its work with lonely, sick and young people, and people who have special educational needs; notes that there were over 40 attendees at the recent event in the Parliament, which included songs from Chandra Chakraborty, a Tagore performance by Anasua Paul and TM Ahmed Kaysher and readings from the poets, Medha Singh and Nazaret Ranea; celebrates the cross-cultural strength of Saudha’s work, and wishes it the very best in its future endeavours.
