  • Submitted by: Jackie Dunbar, Aberdeen Donside, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 05 November 2025
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S6M-19556

That the Parliament welcomes the return of Asda’s Winter Warmer Café Initiative; understands that the programme operates in all Asda stores across the country, offering a soup, bread and tea for only £1 to those aged 60 and over during the winter months; further understands that, in 2024, the initiative delivered 500,000 meals to people in need; supports the initiative in its goal to compact the social isolation felt strongest by older generations, with 10% of older people saying that they were unsure if they would speak to anyone between 15 December 2025 and 1 January 2026, and commends Asda for its efforts in supporting people on fixed incomes.
