That the Parliament remembers Christine Witcutt, from Wishaw, who sadly lost her life in Sarajevo while delivering humanitarian aid in the 1990s; notes that Christine was a school teacher in Wishaw until 1993 when she and her husband, Allan volunteered to work with Edinburgh Direct Aid, which was founded in 1992 by Dr Denis Rutovitz MBE and Professor Jeanne Bell; recognises that Christine’s bravery, compassion and sacrifice are recognised in a new book. From Scotland with Love, by Fred Brigland, which is dedicated to the many people who chose compassion, humanity and bravery over conflict; notes that the book highlights how ordinary Scots risked their lives to help others; commends Fred on telling the story of the courage of these ordinary Scots who chose to show humanity, and notes that all proceeds will go to ongoing humanitarian initiatives, with the aim of ensuring that the legacy of Christine, and the other volunteers, continues.
