The First NHS Staff Orchestra in Scotland

That the Parliament congratulates the NHS Lanarkshire staff members for launching the first NHS staff orchestra in Scotland; notes that the orchestra was created by the University Hospital Wishaw consultant obstetrician, Dr Evelyn Ferguson, to connect colleagues across NHS Lanarkshire who play musical instruments; recognises the dedication and talent of the staff members who rehearse outside of working hours, with plans to perform at the NHS Staff Awards in October 2025, across hospitals during the festive period and beyond; acknowledges research showing that participation in musical activities can reduce stress by up to 60% and improve mental well-being; commends Evelyn for representing and showcasing the creativity and talent of NHS Lanarkshire staff, and wishes her and the orchestra every success in their future endeavours.
