Review of Additional Support for Learning and Implementation of Mainstreaming - Amendment 2

  • Submitted by: Ross Greer, West Scotland, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 13 May 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17524.2
  • Current status: Taken in the Chamber on Wednesday, 14 May 2025

As an amendment to motion S6M-17524 in the name of Miles Briggs (Review of Additional Support for Learning and Implementation of Mainstreaming), insert at end "; notes with concern that only 1,215 children in Scotland have a coordinated support plan (CSP), which represents just 0.4% of all children with a recognised additional support need; understands that CSPs are the only support plan with statutory underpinning, giving children and their parents or carers the option of pursuing redress through a tribunal if their needs are not met, and believes that the criteria for CSP eligibility, as set out in the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004, should be reviewed and, if necessary, the Act amended to move the eligibility criteria into regulations, which can be revised as required in response to developments in Scottish education and society."
