That the Parliament congratulates illustration students at the University of Dundee Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) on the success of its annual Archive Exhibition, the Archive’s Alive; recognises the outstanding work of third-year student, Culann Mackay, who created a new music print inspired by a recorded conversation with Fife musician, Barbara Dymock, exploring themes of mining, medicine and music; notes that the exhibition features artworks inspired by materials from the university’s archives and includes projects celebrating Dundee’s Hogmanay traditions and iconic local businesses such as Groucho’s; commends the creative teaching approach that presents students with a mystery box of archived material to spark inspiration, and applauds DJCAD’s Illustration lecturer, Natalie Russell, and all staff for encouraging students to produce work that reflects the diversity of local heritage and culture in Dundee.
