That the Parliament congratulates Professor Jacob George, Chair of Cardiovascular Medicine and Therapeutics at the University of Dundee, on being awarded an Honorary Professorship by Dnipro State Medical University (DSMU) in Ukraine; believes that this honour is in recognition of his outstanding contributions to medical research and education, particularly through his continued support for Ukrainian students and academic colleagues following the Russian invasion in 2022; understands that, since the beginning of the war, Professor George has been delivering lectures remotely to students and staff on topics including cardiovascular risk reduction, dyslipidemia and updates on the latest clinical trial evidence; understands that Professor George’s lectures have been translated into Ukrainian, shared at national conferences and inspired DSMU’s “United Hearts with Ukraine” initiative, which has attracted international experts from across Europe and the USA; further understands that Professor George has contributed to research collaborations with Ukrainian universities, and recognises what it sees as the profound impact of Professor George’s work, which it believes has received widespread praise from students, educators and the international medical community.
