That the Parliament welcomes the news that the Aberdeen City Libraries' project, Innovation Station, is to receive funding from the 2024-25 Public Library Improvement Fund (PLIF); notes that the fund, which is administered on behalf of the Scottish Government by the Scottish Libraries and Information Council (SLIC), awards innovative projects aimed at supporting long-term positive impact in communities; understands that this funding will be used to develop a technology hub within Aberdeen’s Central Library, by providing opportunities for communities to access emerging technologies, giving individuals the chance to develop their skills in technology, coding, numeracy and related subjects, thereby enhancing expertise and employability; further understands that Innovation Station will promote the development of coding and robotic skills through STEM activities and programmes, improving opportunities for communities for employment within growth STEM industries, as set out in Aberdeen City Council’s Local Outcome Improvement Plan; congratulates Aberdeen City Council on securing this funding, and hopes that the involvement of young voices in the planning, development and delivery of Innovation Station will make it a great success in meeting the needs of younger generations.
